Humidifiers/ Mucus

This fall we have already had a few chilly nights and are beginning
to turn on our heaters.  Do not use humidifiers or any type of
machine that adds moisture to the air during the cold weather season
when you turn the heater on.  We have been taught to add moisture to
the room when the heater steals the moisture.  Just as you don't
like moisture lingering in your bathroom after a shower causing mold
and mildew, you sure don't want the heated moisture in your bedrooms
creating an environment for bacteria and spores to make you sick.

Instead of using a vaporizer or humidifier to keep your breathing
passages moving smoothly, you can diffuse any respiratory supporting
oil in your bedrooms at night.  This will help keep the natural
mucus flowing the way it is designed to.  Mucus is a good thing.
Our bodies produce mucus for a reason.  It is when we have an excess
of it, as with anything found in our bodies, that there becomes a
problem.  Let's learn why mucus is a good thing.

Check this out from Ron Rosedale, MD.  Dr. Mercola includes this
four page address from an August 1999 seminar presented at Designs
for Health Institute's Boulderfest at
http://www.mercola.com/2001/jul/14/insulin.htm.

"If you have a cold and you go to the doctor, you have a runny nose.
I did Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) for 10 years so I know what the
common treatment for that is, a decongestant. I can't tell you how
many patients I saw who had been given Sudafed by their family
doctors for a cold who then came to see me afterward because of a
really bad sinus infection.

"What happens when you treat the symptom of a runny nose from a cold
and you take a decongestant? Well, it certainly decongests you by
shutting off the mucus, but why do you have the mucus? It's because
your body is trying to clean and wash out the membranes. What else
is in mucus? Secretory IgA, a very strong antibody to kill the
virus. If there is no mucus, there is no secretory IgA.

"Decongestants also constrict blood vessels, the little capillaries,
or arterioles, that go to those capillaries, and the cilia, the
little hair-like projections that beat to push mucus along to create
a stream. They get paralyzed because they don't have blood flow, so
there is no more ciliary movement.

"What happens if you dam a stream and create a pond? In days you've
got larvae growing, but if the stream is moving, you are fine. You
need a constant stream of mucus to get rid of and prevent an
infection. I am going into this in some detail because in almost all
cases, if you treat a symptom you are going to make the disease
worse. The symptom is there as your body's attempt to heal itself."

So please don't use humidifiers and vaporizers which cause more
bacteria and spores which results in the body producing more mucus
than what it should.  To keep your breathing passages flowing and to
prevent bacteria and viruses from harboring in your home, you can
diffuse ImmuPower, Exodus II, Thieves, Raven or R.C. If you don't
have a diffuser, just add a drop over each lung before you go to bed
for support.

In the Halloween candy email I sent last week, I suggested these
same oils when too much sugar causes respiratory or sinus
infections.  Believe is quickly becoming a favorite of this group.
It has Frankincense which we all love for tons of reasons.
Longevity is also a great one to dot on the chest for support.

You can use these oils as a preventative or for relief of the
infection.  We use ours as a preventative because I hate stopping my
schedule to clean the couch and carpet as each child gets sick.  We
rarely get sick anymore, so when we do it is real irritating.

Thieves, RC and Raven are blends found in the Golden Touch I kit.
This kit is featured in this quarter's Young Living Magazine.  I
encourage every household to get one of these kits during the month
of November.  Thousands of YL distributors wait till December when
YL is sold out to get this.  This kit is powerful against
respiratory ailments.  It also contains JuvaFlex to support the
liver when you are sick.  When the lungs get congested, they will
default to the liver.  When the liver is congested, it will empty to
the nearest exit and give it back to the lungs to void.  So don't
forget your liver when you are sick.  This kit also contains
EndoFlex for supporting the endocrine system.

Remember September 20th's email where we talked about the hormones
in supporting the immune system.  That email says, " The steroid
hormones affect all parts of the body, including the brain, bones,
circulation, digestion, liver, kidneys, nerves, muscles,
reproductive organs, and the immune system.  They have a powerful
effect on your body's ability to resist disease..."

Di-Gize and Melrose are also must haves in any medicine cabinet.
They are also in the Golden Touch I kit.  We use Di-Gize for
vomiting or diarrhea.  I used it on my baby's belly after her
seizure in August related to the hidden MSG in her pizza.  It's
great for any upset tummy or digestion problem.  I have a friend who
uses it for irritable bowel syndrome and I know a lot of people who
use it for acid reflux.

And Melrose is the replacement for your triple antibiotic ointment.
It is the fast healing oil and the one that regenerated the tissue
in my eldest's finger when she slammed it in the back door.  Many of
you got to see the fast results from that oil. (Those pictures will
soon be posted on OILS AR US.)   I use it instead of ER trips for
stitches.

For reducing fevers, peppermint or Ledum are great choices.  I dot
four drops along the spine and smooth them in.  But I know that some
people put a couple drops of Peppermint in a glass and fill it with
water and drink it down.  Some people will flick the peppermint
bottle in the tub one time, fill it and bathe for fevers.

There are many, many, many uses for the oils in this kit.  Each oil
has it's own post at our OILS AR US yahoo group.  You can learn many
different ways to use your oils here.  For Windows users, you can
hold down the "F" and "Control" keys on your keyboard at the same
time to bring up a "find" window.  Just put the name of your oil
into this window and it will give you a list of posts containing
that oil.  This keeps you from having to read all the posts just to
find what you are looking for.  When looking up Di-Gize, search for
it by both its old name, Di-Tone, and it's new name.  You can join
this group for free at
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/oilsarus/.

Many of you are having great results with the Thieves massage oil
you made in August or September.  C.B. wrote about a cold coming
on, "We've diffused each day 15 min. in each room and rubbing the
Thieves oil on at night.  So far  NO COLD!!  Sat. night I had the
swollen glands in my throat, itchy throat, achy face around my sinus
area, etc.  (her daughter's name) had a stuffy nose (she
also "breathed" peppermint oil for that)  SO far so good...no cold
for either of us. "

L.M. tells me that rubbing her husband with her Thieves massage oil
is helping to correct the curvature in his scoliosis.  Wow!  So keep
up the good work team!

This month I also bought lotion and chap stick to keep my skin from
drying out with the heater on.  YL sells a few different kinds of
lotion, but I chose Genesis.  I also bought two sticks of chap stick
called Cinnamint Lip Balm.  One for us at home, and one for my
husband at work.

Please don't use commercial lotions.  Many people think they make
their skin hydrated and silky smooth.  The only thing that is silky
is the lotion itself.  It purposely contains ingredients that will
dry out your skin, cause it to crack, and leave it open for bacteria
to grow.  Once your skin is dry and cracked, you reach for more of
the same lotion three or more times a day to relieve it.  I like my
Genesis lotion because I only use it about every three days.  It
really is my skin that is silky smooth because it has all the good
ingredients that feed the skin.  Good stuff like MSM, mango butter,
apricot oil, jojoba oil, chamomile extract, orange blossom extract,
aloe vera gel and geranium just to list a few.  Yeah, you may see
these same ingredients at a Bath and Body shop, but you won't find
propylene glycol on the YL label.  Nothing but the good stuff in our
YL products.  I use the Genesis lotion on my baby too.  Next month
I'm getting the ART skin care system.  Yeah, baby!

And a quick testimony about the Cinnamint Lip Balm.  Last month when
I was at Chili's for my sister's bachelorette dinner, I felt my
upper lip develop burning bumps.  It was as if someone took a sewing
needle and left to right, dotted my upper lip with an allergic
reaction.  I didn't have any of my oils with me (stupid, I know), so
I decided to use the chap stick knowing it had "food" for the lips
in it and one of its essential oil ingredients would probably help
in this case.  It was literally five minutes later before I
remembered to check my allergic reaction.  No swelling, no
irritation, no bumps, no nothing.

Okay, this email is long enough.  I'll have more good tips about
using Detoxzyme right before we all pig out for Thanksgiving!  Ha ha
ha.

Remember, these comments are not intended to diagnose, prevent, cure
or treat your colds, flus and viruses, etc.  I am constantly asked
what I do for this and that so I just decided to share what I do and
why I do it.  Take or leave what you can, but don't substitute my
wisdom for your own.  Please investigate for yourself what is best
for your family.

Happy oiling and I'll write next week.

Love and laughter,

Tiffany in Little Rock
